Shaping Learning For Life

Stockbridge - Primary and Pre-school

Kimbridge class

Year 2

From September 2020, Kimbridge will be home to just Year 2 – 20 sparky, fun children and their teachers Mrs Le Fevre & Mrs Hanham.  Mrs Hanham has moved up to Redbridge with Year 2 having been together in our Year 1/2 class during 2019-20.  Mrs Le Fevre has joined us in September and will teach Year 2 to begin with and then, in May 2021, teach the newly formed Year 1/2 class.

All of our Year 2 children came back into school in summer of their Year 1 year during the partial lockdown which means we know them really well and they loved being in small bubbles of just 10.

They are sharing the Autumn term theme of  ‘Deadly 60’ with Year 1 and Year 3 and we have some exciting learning planned.  What the children might not yet know about Mrs Le Fevre is that she loves taking learning outside so we’ve got wellies and waterproofs ready to go!

Welcome back for September!

Kimbridge, Mrs Le Fevre & Mrs Hanham have put this video together for you to help you find out what to do when school starts on Monday.  We can’t wait to see you, you’re in a special new classroom for the autumn term from now all the way until Christmas.

Curriculum

The curriculum for our lower school, Years 1-3, is on a 3 year rolling programme and 2020-21 is Year A of this programme. The full overview can be seen by clicking on the link below so you know exactly what topics your child will be learning this year.

Current topic

Our first topic back is ‘Deadly 60’ and we know that Year 2 are going to be totally up for this, exploring all the dangerous deadly animals in the world!  Click below to see the topic overview for this unit of work.

Year 2 SATs

Inevitably, we need to look towards the tests that Year 2s take nationally in June of this academic year.  We hold a briefing for parents at the end of Year 1 through the ‘meet the teacher’ evening so that parents already have a heads up of the raised expectations for their child in this year group. We will reiterate this in the Autumn term and then in the Spring term, we hold a full briefing just about SATs.
