Year 2 children undertake reading and maths tests. Writing is not assessed in the same way using a test but through teacher assessment which is moderated and standardised both with colleagues in school, colleagues across our cluster of 8 schools and with the Local Authority. We follow this good practice of checking with both maths and reading also.
We have a very good track record of performance at KS1 and consistently perform above the national and local averages, 2019 was a continued trend of attainment for our children, putting us significantly above national and local averages both at Age Related Expectations (ARE) and Greater Depth Standard (GDS).
The data in the table below relates to 2019 outcomes from the academic year 2018/19.
We are particularly proud of the number of children achieving the ‘Greater Depth Standard’ which puts them in a strong position on entry to KS2.
