Teaching staff

We are very lucky at Stockbridge Primary School to have a very experienced, stable teaching staff who know all of our children well.

Whether working 1 day a week or all 5, they all value getting to know every child and this is just one of the reasons that our children are happy at school.

Mrs Jefferies

Headteacher

Having joined the school in 2011, Mrs Jefferies has seen the school grow and grow. She’s always in and out of classrooms, having taught across the primary age range. She considers herself very lucky to work with a great staff, governors and community.

Mr Taylor

Known in school for throwing himself down waterfall rivers, leading our sport provision and generally anything related to computing, Mr Taylor teaches Year 5/6 having had just Year 6 for most of last year.  Calm and logical, he can see his way through an issue and supports the children well to achieve better than their best.

Mrs Natt

Having joined us in September 2020, Mrs Natt teaches our Year 4/5 class and is always busy already inspiring children in her class and beyond to get reading.  Her natural enthusiasm and passion for teaching shines through in all she does and children in her class benefit from her rigorous approach to teaching and learning and her huge sense of fun. She is busy completing her NPQLL (National Professional Qualification in Literacy Leadership) but also leads on Art for us too.

Mrs Dodman

A hugely experienced teacher, Mrs Dodman has joined us from September 2023 and has the delights of Horsebridge class, Year 2 & 3 this year.  Nothing phases Mrs Dodman and he skillset lies in Early Years and Infants which is perfectly suited to our needs here, making sure the children in lower school (Years 1-3) get the very best education possible.  Mrs Dodman leads the key area of Maths for us and also History.

Mrs Cooper

Mrs Cooper joined us in September 2017 and hasn’t looked back!  This year (2023-24), she’s teaching Year 1/2 children in Redbridge class having already taught many of them in Year R last year.  It’s meant that she’s been able to hit the ground running and make every learning minute count for our younger children.   Mrs Cooper is our music and RE leader and inspires us with different musicians each half term. Mrs Cooper is also Forest School trained and is often found in waterproofs and a warm bobble hat!

Mrs Thomson

Moving back to the UK after 4 years in Copenhagen, we have been lucky to snap Mrs Thomson up for our Year R class.  This vital class, the first taste of primary school for our children, is vibrant and busy and Mrs Thomson and her LSA, Miss Hatt, are busy bees getting down and dirty with the children in the mud kitchen, sand pit and grappling with phonics as the children quickly learn to read. Mrs Thomson also leads Science and Geography for us and we’re making sure to make the most of her knowledge of a different teaching system too.

Mrs McClue

Mrs McClue is our PPA cover teacher and for 2023-24, also our SENDCO for one day a week too; a vital cog in our school.  Being in both of these roles means she knows every child in the school well and supports the teachers in their planning and assessment.  Hugely skilled, with a passion for French, Mrs McClue is inspiring even our youngest children to have a go at a new language.  Her support and great teaching ensures that children receive the support they require to succeed.

Mrs Hughes

Having cut her teeth in infants and Year R as an LSA, Mrs Hughes has been with us for 5 years and amazingly, completed a degree in this time too.  This has enabled her to embark on her teaching qualifications and we just know she’ll make a superb teacher.  She’s working alongside Mrs Dodman in Year 2/3 this year to hone her craft and make the most of the brilliant School Direct programme which aids graduates to enter the teaching profession.  Never one to shy away from a challenge, Mrs Hughes is loving the learners in Horsebridge class!
