Shaping Learning For Life

Stockbridge - Primary and Pre-school

Sprat & Winkle class

Year R

As they enter ‘big school’ for the first time, our Year R children have a class to themselves.  This small number of children enables them to have the very best start to their school journey and get used to the routines and ebb and flow of school life.  The class is taught by Miss Kirkham who is ably supported by Mrs Holdich (Mon – Thurs) and Mrs Burgess (Fri).

The children in Year R follow the Early Years Curriculum, divided out into half termly themes which is then divided into the 7 areas of learning for Early Years children.  In this classroom, you will certainly still see a role play area (themed of course!), water and sand play areas, lots of creative activities but all underpinned by developing writers, readers and mathematicians who are growing in skill level.
