Wee are so lucky to have a beautiful small wooded area for children to explore nature. In addition to this, we have huge grounds which means we can spread the load on a small area and get outside all of the time without damaging the ecology of a small part of our grounds. Children’s learning is planned carefully in this space although there’s always time for exploration and fun too!
There is a momentous sense of awe and wonder in our forest school from snowdrops in February, bluebells in May and the scent of our walnut tree leaves on the ground in autumn, it’s a very special place. We even used it for a particularly special nativity in the December of 2020 when bubbles couldn’t mix and we couldn’t be inside. With a real live baby and treks across the field with the three kings and their camels, we were so grateful of this special space. We’ve used it to celebrate pre-school leavers and even Mrs Holdich’s 50th birthday!
