Shaping Learning For Life

Stockbridge - Primary and Pre-school

Active learners

This is a driver for teachers to consider and provide real life opportunities for children to write, calculate, investigate and apply their learning. Writing a newspaper article for our benefice magazine or using their maths to calculate profit and loss on sales to the Greengrocers from our polytunnel produce is active learning in process.

The picture below shows Year 1 and 2 children re-enacting Shackleton’s journey to the Antarctic – what better way to understand the cold, harsh conditions than to be outside on a frosty winter’s day?  (if we could have made it snow, we would!!)
