Shaping Learning For Life

Stockbridge - Primary and Pre-school

Our School Councillors are elected by the children in their year groups adn this week we teamed it with UK Parliament week in November so that children really understand that they are excercising their democratic right to vote and what this means for the people who represent them.

This year Charlie, Libby, Sam, Freddie, Rose, Josie, Alice and Raya were voted in by their peers and they’re already beginning to consider how they can make a difference!

They represent their classmates in lots of different areas of school life.

In recent years, school council have:

  • Meeting with their class council to decide on what equipment they’d like on their new adventure trail
  • Meeting with the design team who listened to their ideas and has incorporated them into their new design
  • administered the student survey – adult impartiality is key!

In addition to this, the children choose the charity that they would like the school to focus on each year.  They take ideas from their classes and feed it back to one another and then decide and vote on the one they believe most worthy – it’s an agonising decision.
