Shaping Learning For Life

Stockbridge - Primary and Pre-school

Welcome to our school

Nestled in the heart of the Test Valley, our small but growing school is an exciting place to come and learn. Our community is drawn together from Stockbridge and its surrounding villages, as well as those further afield, which makes it a very special place.

I am enormously privileged to be the headteacher at Stockbridge and have seen it make quite a journey – always with children at the very heart of every decision and move we make. We are a school for families: our children are organised into ‘family groups’ who eat and play together, and children are buddied up within their family so that an older child is always looking out for their younger buddy.

Family is a big part of our culture; knowing parents and grandparents or extended family as well as the children themselves helps to foster a happy community that shares one purpose – the all-round education of its children.

Our school motto of ‘shaping learners for life’ is very dear to our hearts. We are preparing children for a world we ourselves aren’t really sure of, and here at Stockbridge, we strive to develop children who are ready to face the future, both academically and socially.

Children’s self-esteem and confidence, and their ability to work collaboratively and be resilient are at the heart of all we do. This is partnered with our drive to achieve high academic standards throughout the school.

Our curriculum is carefully crafted to meet the needs of our children and allows us to be responsive to changes in their needs, interests and wants. For such a small school, we have extensive facilities: polytunnel, amphitheatre and woodland to name but a few, and the use of these is carefully woven into events we undertake and the curriculum that children experience.

We have 140 children on roll in the main school and up to 42 children in our on-site, teacher-led pre-school. In September 2016, the school and pre-school merged and we made the exciting move of being able to offer a seamless education for children from 2 years old. Our children really benefit from this all-through approach as we get to know families and children well but we also

Our website can only give you a small peek into what we are all about; come and meet us and see what really makes us tick! I look forward to welcoming you.
